From Alice's Adventures in Wonderland:
"Would you please tell me which way I ought to go from here?"
"That depends a good deal on where you want to get to".
"I don't much care where ..." said Alice.
"Then it doesn't matter which way you go," said the cat.
I recently ran a survey to my subscribers and 99% of respondents said they considered their career important or very important and yet only 30% said they had clear goals or direction for their career!
So why is that if so many people consider their career to be important that they spend so little time and effort planning their career or creating a clear direction for their future. My experience tells me that the reason people don't set goals is because they don't really know how they can achieve them, or they may believe it's impossible for them to achieve the career or work they would really love to do. When I start speaking to clients about what they would really love to do, mostly they become more animated and passionate as they tell me what they would really LOVE to do and then immediately follow this with all the reasons why they think it's not possible for them. My job then of course, is to help them overcome any fears or limiting beliefs which stop them moving towards the work they really desire.
So, what is it that stops you setting goals for your career?
